How wars forge identity

“according to Linda Colley’s study of British nationalism, foreign wars helped to forge “a sense of British national identity” (1).”  It is an idea that Benedict Anderson works with in his Imagined Communities, too – and one worth bearing in mind when sharing literature of war or violent conflict
