Characters – complex vs simple?

March 30, 2011

The Halfmen of O - Maurice Gee

And also on that note… thinking of what Manhire wrote about the characters in Gee’s fiction for younger readers…

How do the characters compare between Gee’s fiction and Just In Case or The 10pm Question, for example…

How are the stories told differently?

How do they achieve the same goal? Or not?

assuming the characters are more fully developed in one than in the other that is… (are they?)…

Are the settings more/less developed? (is the development of the setting in proportion to the development of character?)

The plot?

What is it the texts are trying to achieve? (do they have a common purpose or different aims?)
